Let's Talk Summer Hair Care

Young LivingMeaghan White

We will be living in the sun this summer break. Beach days, pool days, park days, lake days. And so on and so forth. We’ll literally just be living our best summer life.

But with all the summer fun, hairs get really dry, frizzy and hard to brush. Here are a couple DIY’s to help with that summer hair.

DIY Dry Hair Spritz

If your hair is dull or naturally dry, spritz this recipe over your hair throughout the day to keep it from looking dry, particularly if you are planning a day in the sun.

-1 cup distilled water

-10 drops Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood

-10 drops Frankincense Essential Oil

-8 drops Cedarwood Essential Oil

-8 drops Ylang Ylang Essential Oil

-1 tsp. V-6™ Vegetable Oil Complex

Add all ingredients in a 12-oz. spray bottle. Shake well before spritzing over hair, avoiding the roots.

DIY Detangler Spray

From a full day at the fair or the beach, summer activities can tangle up your hair. Smooth out knots with this hair detangler!

-1/2 cup Lavender Mint Conditioner (or other Young Living conditioner)

-1 1/8 cup hot (not boiling) distilled water

-3 drops Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood

-3 drops Cedarwood

-3 drops Frankincense

Put conditioner into a 12-oz. spray bottle. Add distilled water and shake. Add essential oils and shake again. To use, spray on dry or damp hair, focusing on the ends.

Easy Leaf Cleaner

Young LivingMeaghan White

I am notorious for having a black thumb, just ask my hubby, but I’ve somehow managed to keep a few of my green babies alive as of late.
One change that I’ve noticed makes a big difference, is when I take the time to wipe down the leaves of my plants. If there’s too much dust, they aren’t able to “breathe”.
I love making a leaf cleaner with a cup of whole milk + 5-10 drops of Rosemary essential oil. I put this into a bowl, dip a rag in, and wipe down the leaves of my plants. Bonus: rosemary oil repels plant critters and makes the leaves extra shiny! It also smells AMAZING.
What are your favorite tips for keeping plants alive!?

2 Easy, Natural, Bug Off Sprays

Young LivingMeaghan White

Well, it's inevitable. With the nice weather comes some pesky things. Thankfully the days of toxic sprays can be long gone for your family! Today, I am going to share a simple “Bug Off Spray” that worked wonders for me and my husband last summer! I'll be making a large 16 OZ bottle to last me the whole summer.

Citronella is known for its bright, lemony scent and frequent appearance in insect repellent, patio candles, and sunscreen, Citronella essential oil mixes nostalgia with practicality.

In a 4 oz. glass spray bottle combine:

20 drops each of

+ Purification
+ Lavender
+ Peppermint
+ Eucalytpus Radiata
+ Geranium

+5 drops Citronella

+3 drops Lemongrass

+1 Peppermint

2 oz water

Add a pinch of salt or 1 T of witch hazel, and 3 oz of water.

That's it! All natural and non-toxic bug off spray for your family!

Another tip to help you enjoy the outdoors, is to grab your diffuser, and sit it next to you on the deck or front porch! Add 5 drops of purification, citronella, lavender and peppermint and you have yet another way to help those pesky things stay away!

For when you get bug bites, make a roller with Purification and Lavender, and it will give you great relief. (Add 10 drops each into a 10 ml bottle and fill the rest with your carrier oil).

Bye bye bugs! We won't miss ya!

Why I switched to Savvy Mineral

Young LivingMeaghan White

I used to always buy cheap make-up from CVS, which always ended up making my skin breakout, so then I switched to a more expensive brand, thinking it would be better for me…. NOT! After I downloaded the “Think Dirty” app, I found out that even my good make-up was FULL of toxic chemicals. While a small amount of each chemical isn’t terrible, using it for an extended period of time has the potential to cause cancer. So I decided to switch to Savvy Mineral make-up once I heard all the amazing things about their brand.

After using their products for several months now, I have seen an improvement in my skin! I no longer get breakouts and my completion has a beautiful glow to it!

Every Savvy Minerals product was carefully crafted so you can feel fabulous about yourself and what you’re putting on your skin. Their Products are developed with an unwavering standard of purity and quality, giving you a full variety of naturally derived products made without cheap fillers or synthetics—and that’s a beautiful thing!
A few fun facts:
✨ Savvy Minerals are free from: talc, lead, bismuth, mineral oil, lead, mercury, parabens, phthalates, petrochemicals, synthetic fragrances, and synthetic colorants!
✨ Savvy Minerals are made in the USA (the brushes are made in Italy).
✨ Savvy Minerals are cruelty-free, gluten-free, and mostly vegan (the lipsticks and lip glosses have beeswax, so they are not considered vegan).
✨ Both are calming to the skin, help to absorb excess oil and moisture on the skin and make the skin feel silky smooth. This is important because most mineral makeup uses bismuth, which is a metal mineral that - when worked into the pores - aggravates the pores and causes irritation and breakouts.

Here are a few of my favorite products to use so far.

1.Mineral Bronzer Powder-

First on the list is their Mineral Bronzer Powder. Made with mineral-based ingredients and free from chemicals like talc, bismuth, parabens, phthalates, petrochemicals, or synthetic fragrances. They are also vegan friendly and not tested on animals. The colors of their blushes and bronzers are just beautiful and add to your natural skin glow.

2.Mattifying Primer-

First I use the Mattifying Primer in the summer to keep the shine away. Formulated with Manuka and Tea Tree essential oils. It gives my skin a matte finish and all day during the hot summer months.

3. Eyeshadow (Determined) -

I finish off my eyes with an eyeshadow. Made with a finely ground mineral base, and made without fillers, synthetic fragrances, or parabens, so they meet our superior standards and are gentle enough for sensitive skin.

4. Lip Stick ( Muse and Wish)-

My lips stay free of cracks all day because each lip stick is essential oil-infused. They have a variety of colors that I would like to try more of, but for now my two favorite are Muse(brown) and Wish (pink).

5. Poppy Seed Lip Scrub -

Before putting any makeup on, I massage the scrub into my lips in a circular motion, and the poppy seeds and moisturizing formula which gently exfoliate and cleanse my lips to help remove dry skin. It has four different types of butters including cocoa butter, mango butter, avocado butter, and shea butter which leaves your lips feeling so soft and free of dry skin.
